Pop Warner football is back in Berkeley

A new youth football and cheerleading league has formed and will be playing its first season this fall, according to coaches Robert Bollettino and Jim McDuffie. The two men formerly coached in Berkeley AYF.

They said about 25 coaches who used to coach the Berkeley Youth Football Eagles now will coach the Junior Golden Eagles in Pop Warner.

“We’re trying to keep it a family atmosphere,” McDuffie said. “We want to create a community where the kids learn about football and have fun.”

There also will be a cheerleading component to the new league.

Starting Monday April 20th we will be starting tumbling classes. Younger teams will be 630 to 730 at Beer Street school and older teams, Pee Wee and Midgets will be 730 to 830. It is $10.00 a person. You need to register the week before so we know how many kids in the class. This way we know how many instructors we need per class. You can register by emailing us at Hazletpopwarnercheer@gmail.com or message us on this page.If you register and dont show up you still have to pay for the class due to us hiring instructors by the number of people registered. We look forward to seeing everyone and how much our cheerleaders are progressing in their skills.

Thank you to all the families that came out and registered last night. For the families who inbox messaged us they would be away on vacation, enjoy your vacation and we will see you when you get home. A big shout out to last year's Cadet team from BYCF who made the decision to play with us this year. Everything is shaping up incredibly nice and we as a community will stand strong together to bring the best youth football and game day cheer program to all the very deserving families! Soar Jr. Golden Eagles Soar!
